For low-rise exterior walls of up to three stories, 2.0 mm is commonly used. For high-rise curtain walls, wind-facing elevations, and coastal areas, 2.5–3.0 mm is recommended. For interior ceilings and storefront decoration, 1.5–2.0 mm is generally sufficient. Thicker is not always better. Unnecessary thickness increases both project costs and structural load.

3003 anti-corrosion aluminum is the most commonly used material for curtain walls because of its excellent cost-performance ratio. For highly corrosive coastal environments, 5005 aluminum alloy is recommended. 1060 pure aluminum has relatively low hardness and can easily warp or deform. It should not be used for exterior curtain walls and is only suitable for simple, flat interior panels.

Some low-priced panels may use base materials that are only 2.1–2.2 mm thick. Reliable manufacturers supply panels according to national thickness tolerance standards. Prices also depend on whether virgin aluminum or recycled aluminum is used. Recycled aluminum contains more impurities and is more likely to corrode or experience coating failure.

Three-coat, two-bake PVDF coating: Designed for exterior applications. It offers excellent resistance to ultraviolet radiation and acid rain, with a typical service life of 10–15 years and a coating thickness of 40–60 μm. Polyester powder coating: Suitable for interior applications only. It may fade or chalk after 3–5 years of outdoor exposure and should not be used as a low-cost substitute for PVDF coating on exterior walls.

Common causes include paint being mixed in separate batches, panels being produced in different coating runs, and inspections being conducted under different lighting conditions. Recommended solutions: Produce the entire order in one batch. Approve and sign a physical 300 × 300 mm color sample under natural light. Arrange for all panels on the same elevation to be coated in the same production run.
